Production

I have been providing production processes for all my designs and agency work for 20+ years and loving it. I have also taught it as a Professor of Graphic Design at The College of New Jersey (Graphic Design). It’s an exacting science. Adjusting RGB or CMYK as needed for accurate prep. Getting effective resolution correct for images and a vast assortment of other mandatory and critical processes that have to be correct. To be a successful production artist, you’ll need three things: a deep foundational understanding of graphic design, exceptional technical skills in industry-standard software, and a thorough grasp of both digital and print publication processes.

Of the above list, it’s the third aspect that really distinguishes production artists from graphic designers.

I have an expert understanding of file formats, color management, image sizing, and other prepress requirements and have an expert an knowledgeable in how each differs from medium to medium. In short, I provide production art with a few must-have and essential skills:

• A foundational understanding of key and advanced principles of graphic design

• A High proficiency in industry-standard design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, among others (please the menu Skills Tab)

• An Exceptional attention to detail

• A thorough understanding of both digital and print production processes

• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines

• A personal temperament inclined towards perfection
